Amateur question: tire upsizing

I have a '98 SR5 2WD, and I still have the stock tires on it. I am wanting to upsize/upgradeto either 265/70-16 or 265/75-16(-most common 2 i've seen). Would they(either or both?) have enough room, without a lift? I'm new to the modification processes(ha) so any additional info on "lift's" as well would be appreciated(whether for future reference or just good FYI). Thanks!

Unless your Runner was purchased with 14 inch rims, the 265/70/R16 is the stock size and would obviously fit. The other size, 265/75/R16, is an inch wider in diameter giving you a 0.5 inch increase in clearance. Neither size should require a lift to fit underneath.

Even if you have the smaller stock rims, I doubt you'd have a problem upsizing to 16 inch rims, the wheel well dimensions are the same for both.

I drive on 285/75/R16 tires and needed a 3" lift to fit them ..... and they still rub a little.

265/70 will fit no prob as those were factory options, but if your runner came with the stock 225's you might notice a slight drop in performance by upsizing, and your speedo and odo will be slightly off......but i think the look with the 265's is worth it over 225's IMHO:)

Alright thanks so much for the comments.
Yes i have the 16in. with 225 stock tires. i'm just tryin to decide if i want to get 265/70's or 265/75's. any opinions on these would be greatly appreciated. The slight decrease in performance i realize. So anyone with experience in changing to either size would be great. Thanks! :D
