Amayama nonsense

I just looked up MAF on Amayama and got a quote of $1250. Dont know if i used it wrong but that $ sucks

Not every part will be cheaper but a lot are. Impex Japan is another site to get cheaper OEM parts. I've ordered multiple times from them and all the parts were legit. You'll have to pay tariffs but it still ends up being cheaper then ordering from a dealer in the US. Funny this thread was talking about tariffs back in 2018 and here we are again.

I can vouch for amayama too, I've ordered about ~1k worth of stuff off there in 7 orders over the past couple years, never any issues. Even recent tariffs aren't affecting it too much, especially Japan shipped parts. Only real downside is it's not a good idea to use them if you're in a rush for parts. Expect ~2-3 weeks ETA on any order you do, but you'll pay 1/3rd the cost for the same OEM part at a dealer/through Amazon. As others have said though, not everything is cheaper/available there, so check locally too .

You have to be smart about it - I'm sure there are still some instances where it works out, price-wise. I have often also used them for parts that are not available in the US (Japan-only parts, etc.).

Word of caution. If you plan to buy from overseas expect pay pay about 52% of import tariffs. I bought a starter solenoid for my Hilux form Japan on eBay that was priced at $115 shipped, and DHL sent me a bill of $60 as the duty/import tax/tariff. If not paid, will be returned to the seller!

Can't say I've had that issue actually, I think they've done something lately to counter that on Japan shipped orders. Had my wheel bearings and axle seals and misc parts show up today for $201 out the door, no additional fees or dues on them. Checked it vs amazon and for same part #'s would have been $310.52 after tax. 2nd order now this year shipped from Amayama Japan with no fee issues. I ordered a water heater valve to fix a leaky one for my truck for $56.37 back in early September this year, and it noted that fees and duties were included/covered by Amayama. I have seen some parts where it applied huge fees, but on small, lightweight parts, (bearings, seals, gaskets, valves), they've always been dirt cheap vs local dealers, even at shop or dealer cost. When I worked at Toyota and got their dealer pricing, gaskets especially undercut them by 30-50% almost all the time. Back in May this year I ordered some 2GRFE engine rebuild kit stuff from Amayama UAE, it was 378.42, and also said fees/duties were covered with no issue. I matched that to my shop cost for the same parts from Bob Howard PDC in Oklahoma (shop's primary Toyota vendor now), and prices were still much better than BHPDC could offer by a few hundred.

YMMV but on some parts I've scored big going with amayama vs local dealers. Obviously anything huge or heavy and your SOL shipping overseals for cheap freight.

I ordered from them twice recently. Once right after the initial tarrifs and had to pay UPS, then a month or two after, where I assume it was included in the original cost since I didn't pay anything to UPS. Both times it was still a fair amount cheaper than anywhere else.
