FYI cool white LEDs behind a yellow film (or lens, even) will not produce amber (or even yellow) output.
I've done it on several vehicles and it turns out yellow, maybe I'm seeing things
I've worked in video/filmmaking. Plastic film (aka "gels") or a tinted lens is exactly how you'd arrive at colored light from either a cool- or warm-white stage lamp. These lamps are often much brighter than something you'd normally have on a car.
If you don't see the color, your gel/lens color properties are insufficient. Pick something darker, thicker, or more color-saturated. You may need to experiment.
