Ambient air temperature w/ Scangauge

I've tried all the codes using the xgauge.pdf file and none of them work for my 01 LTD. I read on other threads of some users having success with getting the scangauge to display ambient air temp.

I want to reiterate, ambient air temp not air intake temp.

Can anyone post their codes if they have them?

ETA-Post #10 in this thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/57520-3rd-gen-scangauge-ii-owners.html says his displayed ambient air temp. I'm wondering if it was really just air intake temp.

I know that Toyota Yaris owners are able to do it. Something about the SG taking the temperature off of the ac temp probe. Post #8 in this thread http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24599

This won't help with your scangauge issue, but can't you just look at the outside temp readout to determine ambient temp? Not sure why you would look for that on a Scangauge...

I thought all 4Runners since the 3rd gen had an exterior temp reading on the dash. Oh well....

Does your vehicle even have a temperature sensor that measure ambient air? Our 4Runners have an IAT to measure intake air temps, but I don't think they have a sensor that measure ambient air temp, unless it's part of the automatic climate control system. Even then, it might be an interior temperature sensor.

I can't speak for all 3rd gens, but my 2001 definitely doesn't have it.

I'm not sure about any sensor that measures ambient air temp. I was thinking that it could measure off the ac probe like the Yaris does.

If you buy a ScanGuage it will read the intake air temperature, but that is not a reliable measurement of outside temperature due to heat soak in the engine bay. In my experience it's about 5 degrees above ambient at freeway speeds.
