America's Tire (Discount Tire)

Today I visited America's Tire (Discount Tire outside of CA, apparently) for the first time with the intention of swapping TPMS sensors from one set of wheels to another. I was extremely satisfied with my experience:

I bought TRD Pro Wheels with TPMS installed off a member of the forum, and put them on my 4Runner. Obviously not being programmed to my vehicle, my tire pressure warning light came on. I asked the local dealer for pricing to fix this and they wanted $20/tire to dismount/remount tires and swap sensors for a total of $160. I asked about reprogramming and was told they wanted $360 to reprogram the sensor in the TRD Pro wheels.

I called America's Tire and was given the same price of $20/tire to dismount/remount, etc. I did not ask about reprogramming figuring they would probably be close in cost and I did not want to spend that much. I got to the shop and figured why not ask, it doesn't hurt anything. The employee working tells me he will grab his scanner and will just do it for free. So he grabbed his scanner checked that he could read the sensors and set them for me. He even helped me unload and load my wheels/tires back into the 4Runner.

It's been a while since I have been to a place with customer service that good. I am not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but I figured I would pass this on in case anyone is looking to do the same. This particular shop is in South Orange County, California.

Absolutely. Especially going from thinking I’d be paying them a decent amount of money to swap everything out, to paying nothing.

I've had similar positive experiences with my dealer in Simi Valley CA. The guys are all car guys, they are motivated, friendly and very willing to help.

I bought my 37's from them, and last week my 40's. They were upfront about not being able to install the 40's on the beadlocks. We talked about balancing - I'm using pellets this time, and he asked me to bring the truck in once I've done the full solid axle conversion.

I also had awesome service with alignment from Firestone in Thousand Oaks (unlimited alignments for a small fee)

On the other hand I had shit service from Tire Pros Thousand Oaks, and will never shop there again.

Discount Tire - Boulder, CO

I used Discount Tire for years in part, because of price, and because I take long road trips every year, I had access to free balance and rotations wherever I was.
No more. Second to my last visit I picked up my truck and within a few miles realized at least one tire was incorrectly balanced. I stopped at an independent tire shop, where they identified the problem and fixed it in short order. To Discout’s credit, they reimbursed me the cost of the re-do when I showed the manager the invoice.
On my last visit to Discount, the truck emerged from the shop with greasy hand prints on both sides of my white truck. When I showed the store manager he grabbed a rag and kind of wiped away at the worst spots. The tires felt rock hard when I drove away and when I pulled over and checked the pressure, the tires ranged from 23 psi to 47 psi.
That was it for me, I have been using a Boulder local, family owned shop since then, Barnsley, with no drama. It seems like the Boulder Discount shop just got too busy to provide professional service.

Same Here. Used Discount Tire Direct year ago for tires. Just order a set of wheels, tires, TPMS, lug nuts. M&B was free as usual and shipped for free. Called int to get info on the wheels and the rep was excellent. Helped me with the tech specs and even said he could quote me a lower cost over the phone than online. Sure enough, Right at 1900 online, was 1754 shipped to the door over the phone.
