Amp gauge moves with blinker on

The gauge moves a lot with the blinker on at an idle. The battery was old so I replaced it but no change. Also it cranks over slow with no change with a new battery. Bad ground? Any help in the right direction would be great.

Completely normal,,,if you have a poor ground.

If you're cranking slow, something's definitely not right. Your grounds are a good place to start looking.

Well the slow starter problem is fixed. It took a dump this morning. I installed a new one and the slow cranking problem is gone. As for the blinker, the needle only moves while at an idle. Everything else works fine so i'm going to check that the ground on the truck is good and the bolt is tight.

That's because at idle rpms the alt output is a lot lower, so the drain of the blinkers is more noticeable.

Did you replace the whole starter or just the copper contacts?

I replaced the whole unit. The teeth on the gear had some wear as well. Plus the last owner must of had the same problem and beat the hell out of the poor thing with a hammer:nono: a couple light taps is all thats needed. Oh well new starter with a lifetime replacement.

Well i wire brushed the ground mount and did see less movement on the needle. Seem from your posts it's normal so i'm not going to sweat it.
