I have a JBL system (not the top of the line one) in my SR5 Consists of the HU tweeters in each door and a speaker in each door (no sub) I have a couple of questions, 1st where is the amp located (if there is one) and will 6x9's fit in the doors.

Thanks Andy

Some 6x9 will fit and some won't. Most will fit with minor modification to the brackets

Thanks MichaealM I appreciate it. Anyone know the answer to the amp question?

AS I am not getting any e-mail notifications I have to go back through my posts so let me know when you can and I will answer when I can review.

Now is there or isn't there an amp in an SR5??
I am trying to locate an ideal location for my 5 channel amp and I cannot find a convenient spot on the interior short of mounting it to the back of a seat in the cargo area.....

The OEM JBL amp is mounted on the cargo wall on the passenger side near the sub behind the trim panel.

There was only one JBL system offered - with 10 speakers and it doesnt sound like you have it.

The AMP is in the HU itself.

You can mount a new amp under the passenger seat like I did or behind the plastic cladding in the trunk on the passenger side where the JBL amp/sub would go.

There are two JBL systems actually.

The 10-speaker JBL Synthesis system it has speakers in place of the convex cargo mirrors.

The navigation equipped 4Runners also had a JBL system, but these have 8 speakers instead of 10. It has the sub and center speaker on the dash, but has the convex cargo mirrors.

However, 2003 and some 2004 navigation equipped 4Runners had the JBL Synthesis system with 10 speakers. These 4Runners do not have the backup camera.

eskimochaso is correct though, if you don't have the sub and center speaker in the dash, you don't have the JBL system. Which means you can upgrade system much easier.

Okay now I am a bit perplexed. The crutchfield fitment guide seems to indicate 6 3/4 in Round speakers yet when I look at the front door speakers they appear to be 6x9's or 6x8's.... The rear doors appear to be Round. Anyone change these out in a 4th gen (2005) lately? what do I need to Purchase?? 6x9's in the front and 6 3/4 in the rear?
