Amsoil SDF57 Filter for the 4.0L

Is the Amsoil filter you're using expensive? We cut one apart in the shop the other day. It looked pretty good but has a thin can. Choosing a filter for a street car is such a pain. There are no standards and sometimes you're taking a chance. Amsoil oil is good, but who makes their filter? Maybe there is an Amsoil fan out there...

For $11 I'd look at the Mobil 1 filter, too. It has fiber media instead of paper and is rated at 10-15 microns. It's built like a tank with a thick can. The filter is build by Champion Labs. I use an M1-209 on my V8. The book calls for an M1-109, but the 209 is longer. There is a larger one, the M1-301, but it may be too big (has anyone tried it?).

I'm going to use the Toyota 90915-YZZD1 for now and watch the UOA's. Thanks for the input.

toyota trd filter

Has anyone tried a TRD oil filter? Saw them online for around $15-$17. Don't know about the quality though.

It may be the same kind of deal as Amsoil, that takes a Baldwin filter and relabels it. Now it costs more, a lot more. And it's really difficult to tell if there is any added value, beyound the label.
