Its a 2003 and an SR5, but still its a 4th gen.
I got me a 2003 v8 Sr5 2wd w/118k miles on it. I can now officially sell my 94 sr5. Wanted to get the 05+ V8 due to vvti etc.. but could not afford it.

Congrats on the 4th gen!

I gotta 2003 SE V8 (without the VVTI) and a 2008 SE V8 (with the VVTI). I love them both, but my 2003 will always be my baby. It has PLENTY of power, so dont fret over the lack of VVTI. The 2003's are rock-solid and i love mine.

Congrats!. I just got one too. It's nice you got the V8. I was looking at one but opted for a newer V6.

Does the VVTI really matter?

I am not sure if the VVTi really matters. I know that it is a good and welcome improvement on power and mileage, but since I never owned a VVti 4runner, I can't tell you if makes a night and day experience while driving. My truck with the V8 is very powerful, it is very quick on its feet and does not give the feeling of a sluggish boat/suv, which is why I loved 4runners in the first place.

By the way the truck says Sr5, but it has a moon roof, automatic rear window and some holes on the front bumper where it looked like there was some sort of a bumper protector/extender type thing at some point. Does that make it an SE or SR5 came from the factory that way? My fenders are not body color by the way.
