Typical BFG sidewall tear, saw one just like it about a week ago.

I see a lot of BFG haters, just curious why. Aren't the BFG sidewalls more durable than most other tires?

Yup highlift and sliders made a speedy recovery. Though it ended my trail play lol

I'm not a hater, but unless you are running a set of Krawlers, BFG sidewalls are known to be pretty weak. Sure its stronger than a bunch of low buck offroad tires but it certainly is behind a handful of others in sidewall strength. Good tires for sure, but not the best sidewall.

Just curious because I have BFGs now and haven't had any issues but I'm in need of tires and am strongly considering making the switch to Cooper STs, but I was worried the sidewalls wouldn't be as strong as the BFGs I have now.

I've had 6 sets of BFG AT and knock on wood but I have never had a flat, accept for a slow leak from running over a half inch bolt. I was thinking about trying something else out after these, but then I've had good luck with them.

I have no good reason to move away from BFG ATs, except I'm not happy that the size tire I want is only available in load range E. For that reason I may give the load range C Cooper S/T a try. The tread pattern looks quite similar to BFG.

I didnt want my post to sound like i was putting down or bashing BFG ATs, if you have never had a problem with them on your truck and your terrain then rock on. God knows they sell a good tire for 90% of the population and 90% of offroad situations.

I agree the BFG's have issues with their sidewalls. My last wheeling trip I tore a 50 cent piece size chunk out of two of my sidewalls. One was a brand new BFG load E. I know other tires have sidewall issues, but I was a bit disappointed in the BFG's.

I most certainly won't be going with treadwrights. The two people I know that have them have both lost their treads on the freeway.

Well update. The guys who sold me the tires covered me under road hazard. I told them the straight truth. Cost me a whopping 16.80 to get my self back to normal!
