I completed the Andy Mod 2.0 to my 2002 4Runner this fall as the snow began to fall. It has made a world of difference when trying to drive through deep snow, or when you want to go slide around
However recently I went to the ice track to practice drifting and (surprise) ended up in the snow bank on a corner. After some shoveling, I was ready to try to get out.
Now I was driving the car in 4 wheel drive with the Andy Mod switch turned off, so the VSC OFF and VSC TRAC lights were on, (the computer was off). This is a very fun way to drive. After trying to get out like this, I noticed that the wheel on the passenger side were in less snow, and therefore spinning out while both wheels on the driver side were not rotating.
Then a light bulb came on and I was like, "Hey, why not drive the diff locker?" Now correct me if I am wrong, but when the diff locker is on, isn't it supposed to lock the wheels together, so that the power get evenly distributed to each wheel?
Anyways, I tried locking the diff, however nothing seemed to happen. (Passenger wheels still spun). However once I put the diff into 4LO, then I could see all four wheels try to turn. HOWEVER, once in 4LO, the computer seemed to turn back on, and it would restrict the amount of power delivered to the wheels when they began to spin out, even with the Andy Mod switch still turned off.
Can anyone please explain this to me, and maybe let me know if there is a way around this?
