Another 255/80/17 thread

2 options for LT255/80/17 tires. The vehicle sees a pretty good amount of off-road miles - unpaved, trails, washboard, gravel, fire roads, occasional small water crossings, I don’t go looking for mud or places to rock crawling. It sees a ton of miles in general so the percentage of time off road is comparably small to winding paved roads through the mountains and highways. Small lift - 2.5” front and 2” rear with caster corrected upper control arms.

Copper ST Maxx - E load rating, 32.8” tall and 10.2” wide (measured on a 17x7 wheel) and 58 lbs.

Nitto Ridge Grapplers - E load rating, 33.3” tall and 10” wide (measured on a 17x7 wheel) and 55 lbs.

Which would you go with and why?

I had the Coopers in that size and really liked them, they got very noisy towards the end though. Toyo makes the Open Country AT2 in 255/80r17 which I now have. Falken is also going to start offering the AT3W in this size as well this year

There is actually a 3rd option. Toyo AT2s 50lb 33.1" Ive never run them but between the 3 of these I would give them a try. Lighter, longer tread life better MPG. I have been looking into these for a while now. ...but if they made a Duratrac in this size id be all over them.

That’s the size I want, I found a 33x10.5 but only for a 15” qheel

Is there a reason none of these come as a C rated tire? The size is interesting, but C options for any size tire seem few and far between. E seems overkill (rough ride for no real benefit) for a 4Runner, but often it is either P, E, or nothing.

The KO2 measures about 33.2-33.5 mounted up. That's close enough to a 33.

They comes in E rated for use on a dually. Also its a skinny tire with a relatively tall sidewall. If it had a weaker side wall it would wander under the wheel more.

I have the St Maxx and there about done. They are louder now than b4. How are you likening the At2? They will probably be my next choice.
