Another head gasket project!

I am in the process of replacing the head gaskets. Has anyone ever seen water and oil mixed and settled in the lower plenum? I have replaced many head gaskets but this is a first for me. Anyway, I will be posting pics of this project from start to finish.

Finally got the heads off, heads in good shape, gaskets were good. Intake gaskets were bad though and the top of #2 piston was busted. it left a gouge in the cylinder wall @ the very top of the cylinder. I am going to fill the gouge with JB weld and hone the cylinders out, then install new pistons and rings. It will be a fresh rebuild on a 200K+ mile engine. I hope to get it all back together get another 100K+ out of it.

One curious ? Will a blown intake gasket allow water to mix with the oil in the crankcase and radiator? I will update as things proceed.

but a blown head gasket will,

the valve cover gaskets and intake plenum gaskets dont touch the coolant at all.

I know it says "cylinders" on the package but... I just don't see that staying in place long.

First for me too. Oh wait, I was trying out my new milkshake intake intercooler and it leaked! :lol:

If the coolant and oil have mixed, you'll get milkshake under the valve covers and everywhere else the oil gets circulated through. The intake is still a mystery to me though. Blowback?

Man i dont know how that happened to you.
I JUST got my truck back from my mechanic...
OIL was shooting out from HEAD on the passenger side (3.4 V6).
I knew it was a head gasket.

Fortunately I got it before it was too late. OIL was in the (2) of the spark plug housing and all...

My mechanic did me a solid. Had to TAKE the WHOLE top half of engine off to replace the gasket (CORK) and SPARK PLUG gaskets (I know that is the wrong name).

Well, I started the rebuild on my 3.4l, installed the first piston and torqued the rod caps to 25fp then 45fp and snap. I broke the second bolt I tried to torque down. I have never had this happen on a 22re. I was wondering if this was a common problem. Does anyone know if Toyota has just the bolt set like LCE or should I just get all new rods?

Ooops, I goofed! Nevermind! I over torqued the bolts, the main rod bearings are 45fp and 90, the rod bearings are 18fp and 90! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :smashputer:
