So today I got lovely news my headgasket blew on cylinder 6. Is there a temporary fix out there or something I can do until I can get the money to have it fixed the right way?

Sorry to hear that. No temporary fix that I know of. Don't drive it if that's the news you got (I assume from a mechanic). Aluminum heads don't like heat. Hope your heads are ok.
I'm mentally preparing myself IF it happens to me.

Well, if the exhaust manifold cracks on the V8, I believe it costs about $3k to replace.

I have a 2005 with 145000 miles. And other than this issue its been great. No need to dump for a v8. Its part of owning a vehicle yea some people say it should last longer but it is what it is. If this is the only problem I have for another 145k miles than ill be happy. Also its very sneaky. It never overheated or anything just a rough start up and misfire code a few times and only a little coolant loss

These head gasket posts are complete bummers. I've got an '06, which I think benefits from the redesigned gasket, but I can't say for sure. The worst part is that pretty much all of these cylinder 6 posts indicate that there was no overheating, just a gradual failure. I wonder what type of failure rate Toyota needs to see across the 1GR-FE engine line to force a recall for pre-emptive head gasket repair/replacement.
Anyway, sorry to hear about your rig.

The reason you there is unlikely to be a real recall on Toyota's part is that these failures are happening well beyond what is considered a standard length of time for both consumers and the industry.
I am not saying it doesn't suck, but these failures appear to be well beyond the 100k mark and while it is true that most cars can make it to the 200k with little input from owners these days, the standard length of time that occupies both the public and the industry is 100k.
Once you move past 100k miles, we expect issues. The difference between these and the 2nd Gen 4runners, which did receive a sizable recall is two things
1. As a company, Toyota had a much smaller market share and was working tirelessly to gain share. They sacrificed margins for share, knowing the latter would make up for the former. They also went out of their way to attract new customers.
2. This issue was huge and extreme. These vehicles were showing hg failure before 40k miles showed up. Even in the early 1990's, this was considered outrageous.
The difference is Toyota no longer has to work for market share and second, the issue, which pronounced, appears to not be of significant size and issue to them to warrant a recall.
