Another Newb..Introduction.

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a 98 4runner SR5 yesterday. First ever toyota. Like some, I've been in the VW scene. Looking to do many things to it.

you came from the wonderful world of vw too?

i haven't got my runner yet, and still have a 95 golf and an 01 gti.

yesterday was my birthday, and my golf died in the middle of a busy intersectin at lunchtime. got it towed. when my gf was picking me up to take me home, her car proceeded to die as well. we now have 0 working cars. ah, can't wait to have my 4runner.

on a good note, she was kind of skeptical about me buying another car so quickly... well, now she's eager for me to get it. :D

I'm a watercooled VW guy from way, way back......after about 20 years, this is what it's evolved into.........1989 951 370RWHP

wait im confused . . . . thats not a toyota?

Yea so the Porsche is my deal, AND it ain't no flat six!!!!! The wife fell in love with our '93 4Runner sooo quickly.....and it was rusting apart, so I found a '96 and went for it. She prefers the Runner to her '96 VW Cabrio & maybe even my(our) Porsche!

And sincerely, I must say, the Toyota boards are so much more down to earth compared to other "other" -high end german- boards on the web.

I think that I've seen that pic before. Do you post at Rennlist or Pelican? I have a lowly 944 na that is currently down for a clutch job.

First off.....HerculesSR5 I certainly dodn't mean to hijack your post!

I'm a Rennlist member....NA or Turbo that clutch job is a 12-16 hour job and not for the faint of heart!

Love the '96 4 Runner though. The wife enjoys it so much as a daily driver she wants to sell her convertable and pair down to 1 vehicle for her.

After I sold the '93 4Runner, in my search for a 3rd generation, it was shocking to see what these vehicles are bringing. Many '97 & 98's with 90,000+ miles on them bringing $10K+!! These are the only Toyotas I've owned or worked on. I now see why they hold their value.

No harm taken. I've owned 5 VW's in my lifetime, and I must say, the maintenance and parts on these are alot cheaper and easier. Hopefully mines would last me awhile.
Thank goodness this is not like vwvortex.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Welcome HerculesSR5!!!!

I myself recently purchased a 1996 white SR5. These forums can be a bad thing cause I'm going crazy trying to play catch up with all the mods I want to do.

douh!!!!
:bash:

I did the deck plate & ISR mods on our '96 the week after I bought it. Made a nice improvement in throttle response. Highly recommended!

Once again good choice! I too have a 98 and it's my first ever Toyota! After having a truck, I'd never buy a car again! I'm sure you'll feel the same way soon! Good luck and have fun. Oh, start saving your pennies and maybe think about a 2nd job... that's what it takes to keep up with the guys in here!

Hahaha! I should try and start looking for a new girlfriend. She complains how I'm always on this site. So far, all I've done was put in an alarm, along with a aftermarket deck. Looking to improve the sounds inside.
