the V8 is not AWD. its full time 4 wheel drive.
I don't think you would see any difference in 4wd between the two. The nice thing about the V8 is more torque.
 
Once in 4wd mode, the V6 model has the same capability as the V8's system. Both uses Torsen center differential.
 
V8 also has the more updated 5-spd. gearbox. I got mine for invoice and price wise it was less than $1000 to go with the V8. So WTF? I got it.

Also the V8 has 4 wheel traction control (TRAC). The V6 only has rear wheel traction contol when in 2 wheel drive mode. Kinda off subject but somewhat relevant nonetheless. Which brings up a good question. What are the everyday differences between 4 wheel TRAC on the V8 and H4 4X4 engaged on a V6. Any comments?

And the V8 has the weight distributing hitch and not the weight carrying like on the V6. (some other small differences.)
