Another silly tire question...

Hey guy's...

Need some more help here, how bad would my 4 runner respond to a set of tires with an E-load rating??? I like the looks and ratings for the general grabber AT2's but in the size I want (265/75-16) it looks like they only come in E-load rating. Or should I just go with the nitto terra grabbers (my second choice due to price)?????

You probally won't like the E load tires. They will be extremely stiff and are designed for heavy towing etc. Chances are the OEM tires were load range C tires.

E load range is too much for a 4Runner and your ride will be stiff. I went from a c load range H/T tire to my current Nittos which are D load range and it did stiffen the ride up a bit but nothing terrible.
I'd get the Nittos beofre the price goes up as they gain popularity. They also rock off road.

yep same here went from stock to D load rating, you can feel that their tougher and stiffer so i cant really imagine an E load rating tire on a passenger vehicle.

jsut thinking about it, it probably isnt recommended for your weight of the 4runner, its meant for more weight therfore if your going around a curve fast enough and hit a bump you could very well loose it due to traction and stiffness of the tire. Dont know if that makes sense

I'm running Hankook Dynamic RF04 tires LT265/75R16 with an E load rating. The ride is definitely stiffer but also the fact that the tires is very strong gives me a peace of mind when off-roading.

The load rating is for how heavy the vehicle is and E load is for vehicles that weigh in around 6000lbs which is about a ton more than a 3rde gen weighs so it is a bit overkill and will just eat upo more fuel. Off road the load rating isn't going to make a big diff since the sidewalls are the same as in the D load range but they are stiffer but not thicker but I usually air down a bit so that would defeat the higher load range anyway.
