Another suspension lift ?

hey guys
I was narrowing down a 3 inch suspension on my 4runner. I called toytec lifts, and was told bilstiens shocks are out of stock, and wont be back in stock until the beginning of the year. He said he could substitute the bilstien rear shocks for icons for no additional charge and stated the icons where the same quality of shocks as the bilstiens if not better, is this true??. If not im thinking of forking the extra couple hundred dollars and going with the full icon stage 1 suspension rather than the toytec ultimate lift. I know this topic has been discussed numerous times.... and i have done research with the search button but im seeking for some more quality advice. So should i go with icons full suspension stage 1, or go with the toytec ultimate with the icon rear shocks.
My 4runner is a DD, so a suspension with better handling would be ideal and my offloading is moderate. Also will be purchasing a Light Racing UCA's, not sure if it matters if it goes on a toytec lift or icons lift, and do you lose ground clearance with a front differential kit?

both bilstein and icon are excellent replacement over stock but to be honest, if your going to spend that much on a suspension lift, i would say go with radflo 2.0 from overlandwarehouse. if you plan on getting a aftermarket bumper, winch and other accessories that adds some weight, get the 2.5. look at the members that have that suspension set up, they are very happy with it.

I had a Toytec Spacer lift and was going to get the ultimate lift but I'm actually going to the OW 2.5 3" lift as well because of all the excellent things ive heard about it. Check Toyota120.com A lot of the guys have that set up and love it!

I have read a lot of good things about OW 2.0 and 2.5, if i was out NorCal i would probaly go with them, also im going not going to be doing any kind high speed offroad'ing. Do the Radflows need to be re-tuned or re-built at some time? i thought i read something about that? Im not much of a handy man at didn't want to do any more work to my suspension, or have to take it to a shop to get re-tuned or re-built?

Any suspension will have to be replaced, these are not lifetime parts.

The usual thing that starts going is rebound damping this is with EVERY suspension system you buy.

The ability to have them be re-tuned/re-valved or re-built is you do not have to buy the entire set up when you need to replace it, and for 40% of the original cost you will have your suspension serviced.

having said that I have no experience with cars, though I know 90k miles to 100k miles will be enough for most suspensions... In motorcycles (road motorcycles and sport bikes) they recommend you to rebuild them at 18k mi... mine has 50k without having been inspected and it is getting to the point where it REALLY needs it... but I cant afford 2k for a rear shock and new fork valves (this would be an upgrade over oem).

2k for all 4 corners for a quality set up some how doesn't seem so expensive...

thanks, i was also hoping someone who has the ultimate lift for few years could chime in...... anyhow lift is on its way and will be installed this coming week. if i could get 90k-100k with moderate off road out of toytec ultimate lift suspension before needing to replace it i would be thrilled!!

im sure theres a few, guess my TT COs & rear shocks r about 2 years old now, personally, i wouldnt run any brand anywhere near 100k!, ive always changed shocks after 5-6 years or 50k on a DD, thats me . over the years ive always used bilstein or ome . IMO, any brand starts to fade after 30-40k, so dont let that stop u , if u want the icon or radflo , get em! toytec does has a limited lifetime warranty tho. the one thing to think of is, if u need a new one(s), u just go down to the shop & get em put on, but if ur getting them rebuilt (one or all),u either do it urself, find a shop that does it, or send em in to the company, in the meantime, u'll need another setup to use until their done or shipped back which may take some time.
