looking for somthing for my v8 that rumbles & sounds bad ass, loud but hopfully not so loud i get a ticket for it....similar to that cherry bombs sound?? looking at borla, magnaflow etc...

search for threads started by me. I have created a v8 exhaust sound clip compilation thread. It has several good clips on there. If you find more good ones please post them up...
 
I installed a Magnaflow Cat-back complete system. It sounds nice, but I was actually expecting it to be louder. I have a 22" muffler and that keeps it from being over the top loud. I am also going to add a cool air intake. That is supposed to add to the engine growl.

can you add a sound clip or video clip??? I don't have a good one of a complete magnaflow system. some at idle and reving the engine and then a clip accelerating with windows up and windows down would be perfect!! PLEAAAASSSSEE
 
Do yourself a favor and forget about a cat back system. IF you gain any more HP or MPG it will be minimal at best. Just replace the muffler.
 
the smaller the muffler the louder it is, just get something with 2.5 inches center in and offset out. i did 3 inches on my flowmaster super 44 , deeper than the cherry bomb vortex i had, and its 1 inch shorter, cherry bomb was like 4 x 10 x 14, the flowmaster i had in was 4 x 9 x 12.

Thats very hard to say. What someone else thinks sounds good may be too loud or not loud enough for you.
There are lots of posts on the subject. Take some time and do some reading and sometimes that doesn't even help alot.
 
The flowmaster sound is great but the 40 series just roars. Try the 50 series, quieter yet has a nice rumble. Still has a nice sound when you get on it.

I'm not a fan of the magnaflow sound, but love the Gibson muffler sounds especially on a V8.
 
We just installed my Borla Cat-back today on my T4R and I am very impressed. I didn't want something obnoxious or raspy. It has a deep powerful sound. No rasp at all and not too loud. It is loudest at 2K RPM so I just wont set the cruise at 68mph :) I have a Volant CAI and they go well together. It did improve power mid-range and up top for sure.
 
Definitely cut off the resonator.

I think the V8 with the cat cut off and one of the Flowmaster 40's on it might sound good. I've never seen it done before. Actually I've never seen anyone cut the cat off their 4th Gen.

you said "had" flowmaster super 44....did u get somthing different, was it too loud??
 
i had the cherry bomb vortex, and this flowmaster replaced it, the cherry bomb decided to crack on the welds on the case, so it was time to go, got the flowmaster off ebay for 70 bucks or so.
