After I got off the freeway this morning my radio antenna suddenly went down and I saw some smoke coming out from under the hood in that area. A few minutes later, the antenna went back up and the smoke stopped. When I arrived home, I turned off my car and tried to restart, but it won't. The radio and interior lights all work...Can someone please troubleshoot for me? Thanks in advance

just thinking outloud....sounds like the car kept running off the alternator power after the smoke was seen. And perhaps there was a power interuption when the antenna went down.
Once the car was turned off (and the altrernator stoped making power) the runner won't start. Check your battery and battery cables. It' just a basic first idea.

Is the Battery shorting out on the hood or something?

I would say there is a good chance the wires near the antenna shorted causing it to go down and then at some point stopped having a short and the antenna was able to go up again. I would start by examining the wires in the area that you saw the smoke including the starter wires. If the battery is fried then the interior lights would not come on. Chances are you suffered a short and were running off the Alternator for a while. Without checking voltage and load testing hte battery it is impossible to tell. Trouble shooting electrical issues in person is difficult and trying to do it over the net is even more difficult. You will get general areas of things to check for. Also if there was a short then there is a chance it blew the fuse.
What part of So Cal are you in and maybe one of us locals can come help with diagnostics. There are several of us that have helped other members work on their Runners and or could recommend a shop near you.
