Antennae stuck!

Any ideas on what I can do to service/repair my 4Runner antennae? It's supposed to extend upward when I turn the radio on and it retracts into the fender when the radio is powered off. Right now it's just stuck in the extended position all the time. When I turn the radio off it makes a winding noise like it's trying to retract but can't. After a few seconds it stops and just stays extended.

I was thinking of spraying some WD-40 on it to see if it just needs lubrication. Any ideas?

BTW, it's a 2002 SR5 if that matters in this situation.

Mine was doing the same thing. I got tired of it, so one day I just yanked it up and I think I broke the motor (because I couldn't hear it anymore).

I'm going to replace it with a whip antenna from a Tacoma.

sounds like its broke now mines been broke for years just unpluged it and pulled it all the way up its pretty rare for me to listen to the radio anyways
