Anti-Rattle Spring problem...

Changed my break pads yesterday and noticed a loud grinding sound. Took my front passenger side tire off and the anti rattle spring had popped loose. i figured no problem pushed it back in and it shot off and almost hit me in the face. Tried again, it didnt shoot off this time, but it just wont latch behind the pin. And when it finally does the slightest touch to it and it pops off. Anyone have any idea why its doing this? Am i doing something wrong? I think its just bent...if thats the case and i need a new one, will any auto parts store have one? Will i have to order it?

Heres a couple pics incase i have the name of it wrong or on the caliper wrong.

You have to flip the spring over. You need to remove one of the pins first, flip the spring over, slide one end of the spring under the pin, compress the other end of the spring down, then insert the other pin while holding down the spring.
