Anti-Tailgating Sticker

One of my friends sent me an email this morning:

<I>I saw one of the best anti-tailgating statements today as I was driving through downtown. I pulled up
behind a car with 3 inch tall lettering on the rear window proclaiming:
</I><B>"If you're going to ride my a** that hard, at least pull my hair."</B>

I like that! Tailgating happens to me almost on a daily basis here in WV. There is nothing more I hate than a tailgater! I travel a windy mountain road every day to and from work. I don't understand why people accelerate into a corner on a down grade just to slam on their brakes going into the turn. I don't accelerate. I slow down way before the curve so I don't have to slam on my brakes! Common sense is severely lacking for some!:bash:

It is a funny as hell bumper sticker. I worked on the Buchanan Coal mines, some years back. I know what you mean about the winding-hilly roads in WV (I was mainly on Route 19). The foggy mornings can be intense there. The school buses have additional strobe lights on them, for fog.

I've seen a few buses around here w/ strobes on them... the senseless part is the strobe is mounted on the roof -- which is fine to spot the bus at a distance, but for the inattentive morons, they should also have one mounted at eye level behind the bus. (as if the bright yellow isn't enough to get their attention) Still, I've seen two buses rear ended this year alone.

I've never had a problem with tailgaters. I'm too way fast on the open road. In stop and go freeway traffic I leave enough of a gap ahead of me for proper braking.

Lead, follow or get the **** out of the way.

...but what about the idiot BEHIND you?

By leaving an appropriate gap behind the car in front of me I don't have to jam on the brakes.

I realized that YOU will have plenty of room to stop safetly... I was implying that the moron behind you could still give your rig an enema if THEY are following you too closely...:awais:

I understand your point. However, in over a million miles of driving I have never been hit from the rear using this technique. Since I don't have to over-react to sudden stops in front of me the tailgater doesn't have to over-react either.

90% of the time though, I am the fastest one on the conjested freeways. 99.9% of the time I am the fastest driver on the open freeways. So, tailgaters are but an infrequent problem, and then only at crawl speeds on the local freeways. When I'm in California I'm on a motorcycle and splitting lanes anyway.
