Ants!!?!

Was driving on the beach yesterday, no shoes on, and noticed the foot well was a little damp. Got home and, upon closer inspection, found a whole mess of ants living behind the pedals!?!

My only problem, I'm not clear where the moisture was coming from. I'm assuming the smaller plug (possibly a drain?) I was able to spin it in the hole, though the lip kept it tight in place. That was the main area of wetness. The pillar where the sunroof drain hose is seemed pretty dry and there was no standing water or moisture in that other, larger hole.

Anyway, I put a fan in there. Hopefully it's all dried out this morning. I replaced the small plug with a bit of silicone caulk to seal it. I'll put everything back together with a little ant poison under the mat.

The plug could have been it but your rubber door seal is toast. I think the water is dripping down the window into the door, and then past the door seal and into the carpet.

Most likely leak is the main wiring grommet between the engine bay and the cabin, located above where your left foot rests while driving. Check it from the engine bay side - if any wires are run through there or it is dislodged, water will easily get in there. When parked, rainwater pours over that grommet as it comes down the cowl panel.
