Any 3rd Gens going to Moab UT end of May 2015?

So Google Maps failed me, showed an Area BFE right down the street but now that I look at their website it looks like you guys are south of Moab? If so, I'll just meet you in Moab as you cruise up towards the trail...there's a City Market just past Texaco that I can wait at?

You should be the first to attempt and succeed at the Black Flag trail, with that many trucks coming!

Btw everyone ... KOA doesn't offer public showers for $. TAcoW is wrong.

"The Aquatic Center" has $4 (per day) private showers in a full locker room and for $7 you get access to the pool as well. There is no time limit.

In other news, we went on Top of The World today. Took some pretty challenging lines. Great times!

Derpiful had a few issues, mainly that now both his upper and lower ball joints are leaking on both sides.

Does anyone have any comment on whether that affects trail ability?

How safe is it to wheel?

For those that are in Moab already is there a trail board or something showing what trails are planning to be run and when? Just curious what trails there are to choose from for Saturday and Sunday.

Quick FYI .... don't use your locker on the rock unless you absolutely need it! 2-3 lockers have been blown so far on this trip. More info in the TW thread.

Trail Report: White Rim (Canyonlands)


Finished the White Rim Trail today.

It is listed a 4 but most of it is a 3 at best.

I was simply blown away by the views. This trail head easily the best scenery I've ever seen on a trail in my life.

No permit is required for a day drive.

We left BFE at 6:45, town by 7 and got to the Canyonlands "Island In The Sky Visitors Center" at by 8. Paid for our day use fees, checked out the maps and used the head. Started the Offical White Rim Trail by 8:30.

Did i mention that many people say this is a 2 day trail?

We made it to the end of the offical trail by 4:30pm and back into Moab by 5:30pm.

Although we drove pretty fast, I'm sure it was slower than most on this forum.

I highly recommend checking out the White Rim Trail!

My plans have changed slightly. We will now be coming into town Saturday morning ready to wheel instead of Friday evening. What trails are you guys headed for on Saturday?

I'm not sure about Sat. but FYI for anyone following: we are meeting at 7am at BFE campgrpund to leave for Fins and Things. I'm going to try and start Fins by 7:30, 7:45 and be done by noon.

So an hour early start with a small group.

Anyone can meet us in camp or at the Fins trailhead.

Probably on the trail already, but run Hells Revenge instead of Fins. It's much better, has better views and the hot tubs are on it if someone wants a challenge.

Just about any bone stock 4WD vehicle can do Hells Revenge. Every difficult obstacle on that trail is an offshoot of the main trail, other than tip-over challenge, and it has an alternate route.

There's a local guy that even runs parts of it in a Mercury sedan.

BTW here is trail damage report as of Friday night. There were still 2 days of wheeling left when we departed back for SD. Keep in mind these are mostly Taco parts but apparently at least 3 3rd gens had rear diff issues.

6-Drive shafts
4+ rear diffs
1 rear axle
2 Tie Rods
1 spindle
1 wheel bearing/hub
1 LCA alignment tabs
2 alignment
1 Radiator
1 LCA
1 CV

Possibly two more tie rods, I don't know if the ones pictured are the same ones already listed.

Despite all the carnige reports myself and my friend Rob's truck (which is a stock 08 Tacoma) made it out without any major damage.

We did:
* Top of the World
* Fins & Things
* White Rim Trail
* Mountain Biked: Magnificent 7 (well part of it) down from the top of Gemini Bridges area
