I didn't catch what year your rig is. From 2000 on CA uses data from the ECU - no tail pipe sniffer. Unless you get a stickler of a smog tech with a decibel gauge, it should be fine. "should" - I am not CA smog tech.
Quick search results on the 44:
"Check with the seller especially when it comes to sound. California, being the strictest state in the US – only allows vehicles to produce sound up to 95 dB.
Emission wise, the Super 44 is compliant. Sound wise, it may differ from 1 car to another (due to engine size). Which is why, I urge you to confirm with the seller for your local driving."
The Super 40 is fully compliant but less violent.
Edit - If you can get the stock cat-back exhaust from a pick-n-pull yard, I'd just make a smog-friendly testing system. The exhaust from the Cat(s) back are real easy to work with (bolts together at flange), and I can be pretty ham-fisted. The only issue I see getting the exhaust off in one piece is getting the truck high enough off the ground to get the final piece to bend over the axle and out...I had to saw mine out.
