Any body ever pushed the limits in deep snow

How much snow does it take to stop a 4th generation 4wheel drive 4Runner? Has anybody ever aproached the limits? I went through 23 in of snow ball packable type snow without any difficulty. Any body really tested the limits in snow? My tires were the Revos.

I've wondered that too ever since I got mine. Our last winter here in PA was really weak so I didn't get to test her out too much. I'm hoping we get hit a bit harder this year .

I think it's all a question of tires......but I've been plowing through powder in a flat parking lot that was up to the bottom of the front plate On stock tires......

LOL. those stock tires... *sigh*... VSC kicks in alot just to compensate... but then again.. i'm a sucker for mounds of snow or puddles of water.

Back when I had the Dunflops on my other truck, I tried plowing through a 3 foot drift in my driveway. Well, it was a two man effort to rock it back and forth to free it up. The picture really doesn't do it a justice because the snow is a lot deeper than it looks.


When I got my Revo's, things were a lot different! I was able to get through anything I wanted!

Probably couldn't have done that with the Dunlops.

Why do people have to crap up a perfectly good and important thread with nonsence like this! Is your reply supposed to be funny. I am trying to find out some important information that will benefit myself and others who live in snow belt areas.

oh you must be new here(16 posts?). Im normally that someone thats gonna post a post with attempted humor in it. Especially whenever other people post about limits and how dirty their 4runner is and all that stuff. And considering you did post in the general discussions section as Koz said you will deffinitly get more posts. So calm your nerves and lighten up a little, i apoligize if my post made your thread sour

I thought it was pretty funny .

I took mine up to VT on a ski trip and it dumped 18" in a few hours. That night, we ran out of food so I went out since I was the only one with a 4x4. Our cabin was on top of a hill and the driveway had a ~30 deg incline. On the way back, I had no problems getting up the hil and I was on stock dunlops but they had less than 5k miles. The next morning when the streets were plowed, there were a few guys that couldn't even make it up the hill.

I also played in an open parking lot with about 24" of powder and drifts up to 36" or more. I had no problems at all. Again with dunlops with less than 5k.

Since then, I put on a 3" lift and got 265/70-17 Revos so I'm looking forward to this winter.

Revos Now?

On a related note (code for, "Now I'm hijacking the thread) I'm planning a trip through NM this winter and will be in the mountains for a week. I'm wondering if it is wise to do so on stock tires. I do have the Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts, which I believe are better than the Dunflops (many trips through 18 or more inches of grass).

I am looking for any excuse to get Revos, so what do you guys think? Is this it?
