The other day I was sitting in a parking lot idling the engine while waiting for the wife to finish shopping. After about ten minutes, I noticed the RPMs jump up about 500rpm then back down to normal. It did this quickly about three times in a row before I goosed the throttle and it immediately settled down to normal.
About 30 minutes later I was doing the same thing in a different parking lot and noticed it did it again. I again goosed it a little and it settled down to normal.
About 5 minutes later as we were leaving the parking lot the engine died as I was slowly cruising through the lot. I threw it into neutral and it fired right up and drove perfect ever since.
Today I was simulating the same situation to see if would do it again but it would not do it again.
In the 51,000 miles I've driven this truck, it has only died like that one other time about 7 months ago when rolling to up to a stop light. Again it fired right up and never skipped a beat.
No codes showing on the ScanGauge either.
Any thoughts on such random occurrences?
New air filter a couple weeks ago and plugs, wires & maf cleaning maybe 15-20k ago.
