The #1 main reason I love my 4runner is it is absolutely perfect for me as a gigging drummer. Not only do the seats fold down flat allowing ample room for all my gear, but I can trust that my truck will get me to the gig safely and on time, everytime. I could have gone with a Tacoma (I still secretly want one), but I would be sacraficing protection from the elements and/or theft by hauling my gear with a Taco, and some of you may know....musical equipment ain't cheap!

So I was wondering, are there any other drummers or musicians on here?

I used to be a drummer, but I gave it up a while ago because I didn't have the space to lug them around (Acura). Wish I had my Runner back then!
 
I'm a drummer through Osmosis.

My brother is a drummer (for about 35 years now)
My uncle is a drummer

My wifes dad is a percussionist
His brother is a drummer


We definately have a thing for drums in the family.

I have my brothers kit set up in my house, and my sons kit (his old Tama) is stacked in the closet. lol

I play bass (obviously from my avatar). I've had two 4runners over the last 13 years and they are the perfect musician vehicle. I've taken mine to hundreds of shows full of gear. And you can lock em up and it doesn't matter if it rains or snows.

In '98 I had a Civic and I was a standup bass student at college. I used to have to fold the back seats down, tilt the passenger seat forward, and slip the thing in through the trunk. I'd be driving down the street with a giant headstock next to my face and no room for my amp or other people. With the 4runner, I could take the bass, amp, and a girl to the show = win!

The most I ever fit was my entire 4-piece band's equipment. Granted, we had to reduce the drums to the bare essentials, but it was still a ton of stuff. I had a bandmate up front with a guitar, a PA with two 15" speakers and stands, a 4x10 bass cab, a 4x12 guitar cab and amp head, my amp head, a 2x12 guitar amp, a bass, another guitar, a kick, snare, 1 rack tom, a couple cymbals and stands, a seat and all the little crap too. Wish I had a pic!

Dude that's nuts! It's nice having the option to only fold half of the backseat flat in case you need to seat one other person, though.
 
I am! Just another reason the "new" 4runner looked like a great choice. Happy drumming!
