Any good "Snake Oil" remedy for a tiny rear main leak?

I know, I know.... its a bad idea. I have already done VCGs and Cam seals which were also leaking. I'm still dripping a few drops a day and after several "clean it, drive it, and view it days", I have narrowed it down to the rear main. But I am broke and don't quite have the tools or know how to do the job. So has anyone used anything with good results, IE BARS-LEAKS or ATP-205 ?

What kind of oil are you using currently?

I have never used additives but have had good luck with using Maxlife oil in the red jug, Mobil Super High Mileage, and since you are in FL, you could try Castrol High Mileage, which has one thick viscosity. I'd start with the Maxlife myself in the 10w-30 grade and go from there.

I wouldn't pour that type of crap into a good engine. Unless it is absolutely pouring oil out, I would save up to get the job done right.

I do use Mobil High Mileage oil already. I get that most people are completely against this request [MENTION=71030]T4R2014[/MENTION]. I do plan to do the job the proper way of course, however, I have to park my truck on customers driveways daily and need a quick band aid until I can afford the job and the trucks down time. I was just asking for success stories if anyone had any please.

Try Mobil 1 High Mileage in the 10W40 variety. It has seal conditioners and the thicker grade may slow the leaking. 10W40 is also a safe grade to use in the 5VZ as it is a common recommended grade for this engine overseas.

Carry a piece of cardboard with you. When you park somewhere, slide it under! Or if there is a slight incline, back into the spot...it won't leak if the front is facing down. That's what I do at our house.

My wife's has been leaking since we got it. I have to add about 1/2 quart between changes. At 308k, its not worth spending the money to fix it.

Yea I do cardboard in my garage. Trying not to look too ghetto tossing cardboard when I show up to detail someones car/truck though. I have been stopping a mile or so before my destination and doing a quick wipe down the last few days. Man I love this truck but these little things are a real PITA.
