Just curious if any of ya'll hunt and what you shoot.

Went hunting last weekend down in southern Missouri, one of the guys in the group got an 8pt buck @ about 15 yds w/ a compound bow. I didn't get squat. Saw a turkey though and got a mountain lion on the trail cam. Did have a close call with a couple guys from Afghanistan it looked like trespassing on the property. They were on an atv with two shotguns on gun racks on the front of the quad. None of us had guns only a 4ft fire poker and compound bows lol.

Sounds like those dudes were a long way from home...

I hunt deer, turkey, etc.

Well they spoke no English and seemed to be from the middle east. They said they were staying on adjacent property however the owners of that property died years ago and its still in their family. We thought they were gonna come back and kill us. At the time there were only three of us at the camp on 1000 acre property in the middle of BFE and three other guys were out tracking a deer they shot hours ago. Blood trail went forever and then just stopped cold turkey.

I just got back from an elk hunt this weekend. Down in the Gila forest if anyone in NM knows where that is. I use a 30-06 with a muzzle break and some crazy scope, forget the specs on it.

First morning I set up a blind with tree branches by a creek, a lone 4 by 4 bull came up to it, not 50 yards away. I passed him up hoping for something better than that. By Sunday midday, I had scouted this super nice 8 by 8 bull, this sucker was HUGE!! I had his routine down, where his herd beds, drinks, eats, walks, craps, everything. But alas, I had to leave later Sunday afternoon for a stupid calc II test in the morning. He was sparred, for now.

While I was down there I also saw like 20 deer (3-4 bucks), over a hundred wild turkey, a bear, and lots of cool hawks.

I head out to elk hunt near Flagstaff tomorrow. Using a Browning A-Bolt .270 with BOSS....it takes care of me.

Have previously harvested two elk (one bull, one cow) in the same unit. Weather report is good, so I believe my odds of success are high.

I see the makings of a movie here, "Jihad Deliverance". I hunt deer, hogs, dove, and pheasant, ....., and of course bad guys, hence the user name "Manhunter".

I deer hunt every fall on our family farm in central MO. Nothing more relaxing than sitting in the woods, that is until you hear a noise and the adrenalin starts pumping. Only three weeks until opening of rifle season here in MO.

Haha, I like it, let's call Warner Bros! Sounds like you have a good time down there in Texas!

I don't hunt very often, but when I do, I drink Dos Equis.. and sit and wait, and drink, and sit and wait, and drink more... good times. My hunting rifle is a .30-06 Remmy 700.

If I don't have a good time doing it brother, I don't do it.

I love the Dos Equis commercials.

"I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis" LOL.

And agreed manhunter, I don't care so much about getting the deer. It's the people and the fun fires at night! Can't wait for halloween, gonna have a big ol party down at the hunting grounds!

Deer, Elk, and Pheasant all next month. Might not be able to squeeze the deer trip in though. Hopefully the mtns get more snow and get the Elk down lower before then. Circa 1954 Winny Model 70 .30-06 and circa 1985 (iirc) Remy Model 1100 do the job for me.

When I was a kid, anything that that had four legs, crawled, or flew was fair game. Growing up in southern Oregon, hunting was a way of life and having two brother growing up, we always had Elk or venison in the freezer.

I had my share of stalking the woods when I was younger but now I hunt varmints (coyote) with my Remington 22-250.

The following are pictures of the coyote I shot was at 325 yards in August out in the "Void"

Picture below is the area where I got a bead on it. He was standing right at the bottom of the hill, in the grassy area, You can see my brother in law walking back to the truck in the foreground.

Then I killed a 4 foot rattler that night at camp. It had 7 rattles but was missing the button, one of the bigger rattlers I had to shoot...

We got back to camp about 11 pm, after a night of shooting rabbits, and I decided to walk down the trail to the river behind camp to wash up before bed. I grabbed my flashlight and my 10/22 and headed down the trail. The river is only about 30 yards from my tent and in about 20 of those yards was the rattler sleeping on a rock, right in the middle of the trail.
I only saw him from about 7 feet away and if I did not have my flashlight I would have probably stepped right on the snake.

I raised my 10/22 and shot from the hip. The bullet struck him about mid body and instantly he struck out full on fangs!
I walked up to the snake and put my 10/22 right under his chin and pulled the trigger. The 22 hollow point vaporized his head.

My brother-in-law came running after the first shot and he freak out about where the snake was, in the middle of the trail.

I took him and put on branch on the juniper tree that was in camp and high enough out of reach of the coyotes for the night.

When I took this picture below, I was standing right next to my tent. In the center of the picture I placed a red dot and right above the red dot is where the snake was laying on a rock. In the background you can see the river.

Well I ate ate a pheasant the other day. My recent purchase of the runner and taking a few light trails with it is making me really want to dust off the old 870 and go find some grouse :ak472:

Varmint, Whitetail Here.

Varmint hunt with an AR or .17HMR (for the little ones)

For whitetail I have a Marlin 1894 in 44mag with Burris Optics.

Anyone in Indiana feel free to check out indianatrailcams.com My brother is a cop in Delphi and and avid hunter. He and a few County Mounties put together this website. It's only been up a week or so, so join up and be patient. It'll grow.

Nice pics, looks beautiful. There was a tornado (albeit a baby one for Midwest standards) in Riverside, CA. a couple years ago (that's where my folks live). Weirdest weather thing I think I've ever seen. Well, except for the time I was camping in Yellowstone NP in mid-August, 80-90* days and out of the blue we woke up with 14" of snow on the ground - in Aug!

Did you get anything? Tornados WEST of Flagstaff??? Wow!!!

I've Elk hunted around Williams a couple of times back when I was in college down in Prescott. AZ Elk hunting is tough! :sniper:

Nope, didn't tag out. Had to cut it a bit short.

BTW, fixed the problem with the full size photo links. They're loading now.

I'm going bow hunting for whitetail this weekend, gonna have a big old halloween party saturday night too! Wish me luck, I'll let ya'll know if I get anything.
