Any Idea where the oil is coming from?

Hi everyone,
Any idea where this oil is coming from? Right under the Cover that says V8. I had Tbelt replaced 7 months ago. Not sure why he didn't tell this was there... Only noticed it now when I was cleaning my engine bay.

Bad PCV? That was one thing we didnt get a chance to change.

edit that moisture looking might just be water when i hosed of the engine bay. I shot a little brake clean to see how thick itw as.

I actually thought you posted my own picture in your post...

Anyways, when they did the timing belt, they had the thermostat housing off and didn't seal it properly. Pull your intake pipe off your throttle body, and check out where the leak is.

I bet it's there. Get a new O-Ring from Toyota (P/N 9676135035) and some RTV or FIPG gasket maker. Pull the thermostat housing, clean everything up and reinstall.

they put a new oring i believe, Actually that was the one part i didn't give him, but he said he had it so i assume he did. I thought that is supposed to prevent coolant from leaking not oil? Maybe its bc its 1 am. I am not understanding where your leak is, although it looks the same as mine.

i dont see any signs of coolant. looks like oil to me

It sure looks like oil, but you don't know it is. I thought it was too...

The coolant steams up and accumulates around there, and dirt and crud collects on the accumulation. If it were oil, it would be smoking when the engine was hot. The coolant is burned off, and all that remains is what doesn't get hot enough to disappear.

It takes all of about an hour to do the repairs I mentioned. Just pull the intake tube off and take a look, you'll see a moist spot somewhere around the thermostat housing.

Sure, you'll probably find signs under the throttle body, on the thermostat housing, after you pull the intake tube.
