Any 'lower 48' Ice Storm Stories?

I keep seeing on CNN that many of the 'lower 48' states are having horrible ice storms.

Any of you flatlanders down there have any good slidin'-around-in-my-4Runner stories to tell us?

It was supposed to be so bad and all, but really it's just cold rain...

Very little freezing in there, a tad bit of slush with a bit of ice on the roads in the early mornings.....

And i'm right in the middle of it all in Kansas......

Biggest over-hyped ice storm in history if you ask me!

That's what I thought.
Most of those "newscasters" look like twinkies to me. Wouldn't know real weather if it flew up their skirts!

We're iced in here in Oklahoma City. Last night I gave my 6 year old son a rake (the garden type with the steel tines, not leaf) to play with on the driveway. He was having fun scraping the ice off the drive. I went inside...mistake. About my 5 minutes later my across-the-street neighbor called to let me know my son was busy being helpful by clearing the ice off the next-door neighbor's Infiniti with the rake. Back passenger door & quarter panel will definately need repainting. But hey, at least he got the ice off!!

Bonus: The 4R was in garage ice-free!!

We just had ice on the trees and grass never stuck to the road. It was 27 degrees and pouring rain on the way into work monday morning, that was interesting.

The 4Runner handled very well!
When the ice storm came in Tuesday night, my finals got canceled at UMKC. I was about half way there to take it then a friend called me it was canceled. Took me about 2 hours to come home because of traffic and dumb drivers. lol
When I got home, the teacher sent us an email that we could take the finals at 9pm THAT night. I rushed back out and took the final. While tons of ice has built up on the car, it had no trouble handling the sleet/snow/some ice... I am glad I had 4WD and TRAC and VSC

I know there's been some threads about whether or not to use VSC in the snow/ice. I didn't really understand what VSC did until I got in an empty, ice covered parking lot this week. I stepped hard on the accelerator and turned the wheel from side to side, attempting to fish-tale. It was nearly impossible to do with the VSC activated. It's really amazing. I'd recommend always leaving the VSC on (ie diff. unlocked) unless you get stuck or are in some deep snow.

My gf and i were going to her parent's home traveling on the interstate. It's a 40 mile drive and about 10 miles into it the rear started to slide to the right and the truck was floating on black ice, it slid to the left side -hit a pole
-went down into an embankment
-flew into the air
-rolled about 6 times
and we landed rightside up 150 yards from where it all started.

We were both ok and able to walk out.
My runner didn't do to well but it kept us alive!
