So i hope no one will steal this out from me but I found a supercharger there i would like to get but im uneasy about sending them the cash and having them ship it.

Hoping a local member would want to make some gas and beer money and help me out.

Basically i paypal you the cash and you pick it up and ship it to me. I just trust this board more than some random person.

I have great feedback on other forums as a buyer and a seller and recently sold a $3200 alienware laptop shipped to canada with no problems.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.

I actually had a 4th gen guy named Tim from here give me a call and we are all set for him to pick it up on Friday. I feel alot better about the deal because come to find out, Tim is a police officer so no funny business there. lol. I doubt Tim will read this but I want to say THANK YOU!!! He is going nearly 50 miles away from home (granted thats where his patrol is) and meeting the guy for someone who simply sent him a P.M. asking if he would be willing to help and isnt even charging me other than he said send enough extra for a case of beer. I think i will send enough for 2 or 3. lol GREAT GUY!!!!

Its interesting you never heard back from him Sn0wrunner because he text me back immediately and has had constant contact with me all day. I called and he was kinda hard to understand on the phone (poor English) which to be honest made me a little nervous about a possible scam, but he is the one that said he would really prefer that it was picked up locally and not shipped which eased my mind a little.

In the pictures he text me, it shows everything there. Even the original instructions and box and drive belt.

Anyway total cost is gunna be right around $585 shipped to my door so I think I got a smoking deal considering everything looks nearly new.

Im EXCITED!!! lol

sorry, forgot to mention that we decided NOT to use paypal.

We are going directly through my bank with a money transfer for goods. This provides a bit more protection on both sides since the bank is involved and it is bank account to bank account therefore the bank itself can hold, release, transfer freeze etc.

Thanks for the concern though. Glad to see people are keeping an eye on things and trust me, I am always on the lookout for scams. My buddy was a HUGE idiot a few weeks back and lost $4000 to a cl scam trying to buy a tacoma. He just didnt think and thought he was getting the deal of a lifetime and jumped on something that was to good to be true. The moment he posted on facebook about it, I knew he was screwed.

Sometimes, we just have to have a little faith in our society that there are still good, honest people out there and if you are smart, take the time to research, question and inspect all aspects of something, you can usually get a pretty good idea of what is really going on.

I am not. I will happily provide anyone multiple places of feedback for items ranging from $5-3200 that I have done online without ever meeting in person as both a buyer and a seller that have gone smoothly with both parties 100% satisfied as well as speak to anyone who wishes to hear my voice.

As far as your curiosity regarding an online paypal transaction of a large amount, please refer to notebookreview.com and contact kevinz regarding the $3200 Alienware Laptop that I sold him (through paypal) a couple months ago. I spoke with him at 9am through pm, then on the phone, he sent payment by lunch, transfered to my bank account, 2 days later it cleared my account, went down the same day boxed and shipped, 3 days later it arrived in canada as stated with both parties 100% happy. It all comes down to doing your research (i had found out who this guy worked for, his address, mother and fathers name and address, phone numbers etc before talking to him on the phone) and making sure you know all you can about a transaction (and yes you still can get burned)

You have 0 legal protection on a bank wire transfer. 0. This isn't an escrow account. When you sign that form and your bank wires money, it is gone.

I don't understand why you won't use paypal, as paypal actually operates as an escrow account. Paypal will hold the funds for up to 3 weeks before releasing the funds.

If you want security, then you have them list it on paypal; go and buy now. This way you are protected by paypal for any loses associated to a scam.

Please do not use a wire transfer, as there are 0 legal protections.

EDIT: Wow. What are you trying to do? Paypal/transfer money to a random person? What? Weird! You should simply deal with the person selling the supercharger and you should require them to GO THROUGH ebay. They can list the auction, put a BUY now price. You can go and BUY NOW immediately, and paypal will operate as an escrow account. Not sure why you need to wire cash to anyone? That just is odd.

my only warning is that even bank-to-bank transfers take up to two weeks to FULLY clear even though the money will shown up in 2 days.

Yes, i think this type of post is highly sketch, it does draw a warning notice from me AND you are posting in the wrong section of T4R.

if anyone receives money via a check, bank wire or paypal and has been asked to buy something and send it or the cash back that is very shady.

I am glad it supposedly worked for you but 99% of the time what you have described is a scam from the poster.

EDIT: So just let me clarify this a little to try and explain this so that maybe you understand what exactly is going on. Me (The buyer) is wanting to purchase the supercharger from Teddy (the seller). Teddy and the SC were found on CL in Detroit Michigan and I (the buyer) am in Nampa Idaho. There arises a problem. I cannot inspect the item or pick it up personally due to the physical constructs of time and space as well as Teddy (the seller) not feeling comfortable shipping it. Teddy (the seller) does not have Ebay and does not want to pay to post the SC leaving me (the buyer) and him (the seller) in a position where we would both have some uneasiness having to deal with no physical contact with each other or the product during this transaction.

This is where Tim (the intermediary) comes into play. Tim was contacted by me ( the buyer) and asked if he would be willing to inspect as well as ship the item to me provided I give him compensation for his time. Tim agreed to accept the funds from me (in a money order made out to Teddy (the seller) for the purchase price of the sc, and a money order or cash to him (Tim the intermediary) for his compensation and shipping costs. Tim (the intermediary) would then inspect and if legitimate and as described, purchase the item by presenting the money order filled out to Teddy (the seller) and return to ship the SC to me (the buyer). If the item does not turn out to be legitimate or is not as described, Tim (the intermediary) returns the money order for the purchase as well as the shipping funds and gets to keep the compensation for his time.

Please tell me how I would scam someone this way? Am I taking a risk? Sure. Tim could take my money and bail, give the money order to Teddy for the SC and then keep it himself but I fail to see how I am scamming anyone. If there is a money order filled out to each person individually, how am I supposed to scam them?

I am sorry for jumping the gun on how funds were going to be transferred/ handled as that seems to be what has caused a bit of uproar but hopefully after my explanation, you will understand a little more clearly why this is being done this way.
