Any metallica fans here?

i know i'm not the only one lol! With their recent induction into the rock n roll hall of fame, i think they greatly deserved it. dont matter if they went through a rough patch for a while, they still are a pretty good band if you ask me. what are your thoughts on the band? did they deserve the induction?

Metallica is my age... Those albums Kill em All to And justice were underground type at that time where we usually listen to glam bands like poison, bon jovi, Guns etc. But when they releashed the Metallica(Black) album, Thats when we changed flavor...Now I'm busy, and when I first heared my 14 yr old son playing that guitar riff in The Day That Never Comes!! I know its a Metallica song. They really deserve the hall of fame IMO, they're making music for more that 2 decades.
Now I have to RELOAD them in my playlist LOL!

They deserve it but some bands should already be there as Hetfield eluded to.

"Dream big and dare to fail, because this is living proof that it is possible to make a dream come true," said frontman-guitarist James Hetfield, who then rattled off a long list of hard-rocking bands he feels deserve induction.

"Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Rush, Kiss, Ted Nugent, Iron Maiden, Motorhead. We'd like to invite them through the door," said Hetfield, who concluded his remarks by wrapping Ulrich in a bear hug.


I'd also throw Alice Cooper in that group.



It's hard to believe I saw them 24 years ago and 15 times since. I paid $10 for the T-shirt at that show and I still have it.

And a year out of HS I went to this

And then last Nov. in Denver (I took over 100 pics and a bunch of vids) and I kinda feel old now.

Yep,I was fortunate to see him on the Ride The Lightning tour and in May of '86 supporting Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour which was 4 months before Cliff was killed.

wow Ron, you seen metallica in concert even before i was born lol. i went to their concert this past January and it was amazing!. to bad i was laid off, i wanted a souvenir. But i got my ticket stub and I'm saving that for a long time coming

Yes,I am proud to say I'm an original fan since I heard them in '83 right before I started my freshman year of HS. My friend and I were cranking them out on our boom boxes that year and everybody hated that style of music in my school and I never imagined they'd have the success they've attained.

Maiden,Metallica,Priest,Crue and Megadeth are my favs if I couldn't listen to anything else.

Not a reason to like their music and I was into Megadeth shortly after I was into Metallica so not really a loyalty to either back then and I think Dave has done fine on his own and definetly followed his own path and both bands put out kickass music so it's silly to ignore one or the other for such petty things.

guess some ppl are just closed minded. bet you those ppl are really upset that metallica was the first thrash metal band to be inducted. O well, congrats again to metallica! :rocker:

Serious Metallica fan back in the day.

Got my first I-pod for Christmas this year and my first move from CD's to MP3 (yeah, a little late, I know). I hadn't heard my old Metallica CD's in over a decade, until I went through all my "old" music to decide what to load to my I-pod. There was Metallica, just waiting. Only loaded my favorite songs from each album, took me back about 15 years...I feel old too...

I started listening to Metallica about 1994 (I was 8). I can remember when Load came out and my brother drove me to the store so I could buy it the first day it came out. They were my favorite band all the way up through S&M and had all of the CD's up through S&M. After St. Anger I was literally so disgusted that I ended up getting rid of almost all of my old 'tallica CD's and still to this day regret giving up Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. They have since been replaced, but it's hard to believe I ever even got rid of them. Master of Puppets is one of, if not my favorite metal album ever. Now I'm into the heavier stuff (Slipknot, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Pantera...) but I still love Kill 'em all through the black album, can't stand Load through St Anger, and have respect for the new album. In a nutshell, hell yeah they deserved it.
