I've been riding for many years. I ride sportbikes which is odd for a 48yo Financial Advisor. I have an '07 Yamaha FZ1, and prior to this bike I had a Yamaha FZ6 '04. I ride as often as possible, including this past Saturday in 38 degree temps. I would ride to work if I could, but not willing to ride with a suit on, and not willing to deal with the oversuit routine. Most typically I ride my bike in the summer from my home on Long Island to my house in the Pocono Mountains. That's 200+ miles every weekend. I spend time on the motorcycle forums, SBN and Cycleforums. Ride safe guys and gals!

First: 91 Katana 600. Bought it to rebuild. dont have any before pics but it was trash.
second: 98 Superhawk. Love of my life. I put 16k miles on it in 3 years. You couldn't get me off that thing.
Third and current: 1974 cb550/78 cb550 bought both for $500. Six months later, #4 was reborn. My own variation of a cafe/flattrack.

I LOVE the look of the 1098.... gorgeous!
I ride a 2011 Harley Davidson Road King Classic 103, did a Stage One with Fuel Moto air intake, Power Vision, ceramic coated head pipes and Jackpot 4.5 inch Pro mufflers... to basically reduce the heat from the government/EPA mandated catalytic converter stuffed in the head pipe. Temperatures reduced BIG TIME. Bike runs very well!
Looking at purchasing a 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere for the back roads, jeep roads and forest service trails of Colorado and the West, as I was going to buy a BMW R1200GS but I think the Yamaha, with all the reviews and experiences I've read, has the BMW beat by a long shot.
We'll see what unfolds...

I had to look that bike up, as I like the BMWs and might look to one some day. The Yamaha is FUGLY... I mean wow! I guess as long as you never had to look at it, if it's a better bike to ride... ? I dunno, your thoughts on the looks? Don't mind them, or just don't care? Just curious what others think...
The bikes got tremendous reviews and looks fine in person.
You probably looked at a pic online, you just arrived here and made a comment like that?
I've been riding bikes for just about forty years and here on this forum for five.

The Yamaha Super Tenere is an Adventure bike, plain and simple. It is designed with a real purpose in mind, just like the BMW GS. I used to be into the Adventure bikes till I went all street. I would choose the Yamaha over the Beemer. You know all the beemer guys think their bikes are the greatest thing on earth, but they would be secretly drooling over the Super Tenere.
