Any negative issues with StreetPilot 2730?

I am planning on purchasing a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 and wanted to know if there any negative issues or problems with this particular unit I should be aware of. The only thing I can't figure out is where to purchase the unit, which website has the best price, I did a search using "Froogle" from Google and the lowest I gt was $890. Any other ways or places to find out the cheapest unit?

I just bought my Nuvi 350 and they gave me a ridiculously good deal. Seller asked me not to post up prices, but he beat out everything I found online.

I have the 2720 and it is a great unit. The only pain I have run into is updating the maps. Garmin has a strange way of dealing with upgrades; as an example, you can only update with a code that comes from the web when the unit is connected to your computer and the code expires in a couple of days from receiving the initial email that your updates are available. When talking the Garmin it has something to do with licensing of the information provided on the maps. One other thing, if you do end up mounting the unit low, like I did in the cup holder, you are much better off getting an external antenna because otherwise it keeps loosing the satellite connection.

I saw many members placing the unit in the cup holder, isn't it a little harder to view and follow? or maybe a little dangerous? Also, I understand you have to pay for the weather and traffic services, you don't have to pay any monthly fee for having the gps do you?

GPS service is free. You are just utilizing the satellites that area already in orbit.

Originally I had my Nuvi 350 mounted near the cup holders too but since have moved it to right under the hazard switch. I felt I had to advert my eyes further away when I looked down there and then I would have to refocus to the road.

I'm not sure the 2730 is shipping yet, so feedback may be hard to find. You can try the forums on gpspassion ( http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=86 )

Garmin has a reputation for good products and good customer service. If I lived in an area covered by XM traffic, I would seriously consider the 2730. But since I travel a lot, it's too big to carry around in my briefcase, so I'm planning to buy a Nuvi instead.

I've have not had a problem seeing the screen. I use the remote to change anything I need. The setting I use has each street come up by name about a 1/4 of a mile before getting their. The fonts are large enough to easily see this function from the cupfolder location. If using the route function I only follow the spooking directions and rarely look down to check the map but even that zooms in enough to see without issue. GPS is free, traffic support is $20 per month.
