Any problems w/ NGK IX plugs?

I only have about 10k on my 05 V8 and was looking at the NGK Iridium IX plugs for just a little more efficiency and power. Has anyone experienced any problems with them? Complaints or Benefits????

Did you read the thread started by Casper on these plugs? There is a lot of info about them there:

I put them in about a month ago and haven't had any problems with them yet. They were pretty easy to install, all I had to remove was the intake tube from the airbox to the throttle body. I've noticed a slight improvement in performance and the engine sounds louder.

Why are you guys changing the plugs out so early? Don't the V8s have 100K plugs?

nope..the iridiums in the V8s are good for really about 60K miles but I believe that even toyota swaps them at 30K miles. I added mine as i knew there was a good chance that I would have a mix of denso and NGK's (which i did) and that i would generally get either better power or better mileage out of the upgraded iridium plugs and that they would pay for themselves if I just stayed off of the throttle. Since that isnt in my blood, getting better power/throttle response out of the truck was the real driving factor.

same here. Iput mine in about a thousand miles ago and I actually did notice a small increase in power(maybe it was in my mind, maybe it wasnt- who knows). I took everyones advice on this board and got the NGK's and I have had no problems with them yet. Frankly I dont even know what problems you could have by putting better quatlity longer lasting products on your vehicle....

Here's the difference, the Laser Iridium has a platinum grounding electrode and the IX does not. The Laser should last twice as long.

That makes sense. I would've thought the same materials would have been used in both plugs with the IX being even better grade.

The IX is a performance plug that sacrifices longevity for performance.

thats why I got the IX's, the auto parts store I ordered them through said they would last about the same amount of miles. I guess he was wrong....

Where can I get these plugs? How much do they cost? Is there really a performance diferrence? i am getting ready to drive X-Country and I owuld like to have a littel more efficiency...

I got my plugs from ngk.com and they were about $7.00 per plug.

I can say that there was a performance difference with them installed even with only 14,000 miles on my truck.

if you can keep your foot out of the gas, it helps with gas mileage...if you put your foot into it, it makes better power.

Don't waste your money, the OEM V8 plugs are 100K mile plugs. Use the money for a longer lasting air filter.
