Nah, two concussions, six broken ribs, one bad knee with a shredded meniscus that still sometimes has chunks of gravel coming out as little pearls out of the skin, and a driving public that I've watched becoming increasingly distracted by their phones over the last 10 years.

Nope. Ran off the road by a truck 15 years ago. I went over the bank and crashed in rocks. As I was lying there I saw him stop, get out and look over the edge at me. He got back in and drove away, leaving me there. Last time I rode a road bike ever. I ride mountain bikes now. Trees don't move.

Still remember the black Tahoe. Girl tagged me with her side view mirror on the Spanish Fort causeway, broke my ribs, threw me into a ditch with rotting raccoon carcasses in it, asked me if I was alright then drove off without calling 911--the crash broke my phone so I had to limp to the side of the road to flag down a car to call for help.

Yeah, and nothing against the OP but the current crowd of "roadies" is totally different than the mountain bike riders.
I only had road rash and a broke collar bone from that wreck. A few years ago it was 3 ribs and a shoulder in mountain bike wreck. At least it was my fault on the trail lol. Nobody to blame but myself.

Just getting started at it. Some friends talked me into doing the MS150 in April, so I found a leftover '14 Masi Premiare for a decent price (same one I posted in the MTB thread). More bike than a noob probably needs, but it should get my by a couple years before I want something else.
Last weekend we rode 30 miles at 15mph avg. I was pretty much spent. Got some work to do in the speed and endurance department, but I wasn't uncomfortable or hurting from the bike. Just sore muscles and fatigue.

Gotcha.
Trees are just as much of a hazard on mt bike trails as vehicles on the high way when traveling at high speeds on narrow trails. I wish they were flexible when riders crash into them.

Ok, so since this forum is for 4runner folks, we know you drive on the road. Now we also know you are cyclists, so tell me, please, do you find it annoying as hell when the lone biker doesn't obey traffic laws? I mean really, the red light isn't a suggestion and I have no way of knowing that you are going to blow through it, so please don't get all pissy at me when you have to lay down your bike because you did not yield!
I don't ride on roads simple because I have heard too many people laugh at the idea of bikers getting hit. It is more than concerning when people seem to take pleasure in the idea. I will stick to bike trails, less interaction with the general driving public! :boxer:

The topics have similarities but are however completely different in their use and purpose. To combine the two would be like equating pick-up trucks to SUV's. Certainly there must be room for both in the Off Topic forum. To further illustrate the point please bear in mind the different types of bikes that fall into the Road or Mt bike categories in addition to those those that dont:

To add to that. Roadies vs MTB riders are as different as day and night.

Exactly. I'm a bit of a mutt because I own, use, and love both bike types. 20 miles on a road bike equates to about 10 miles on a mt bike on bike trails with roots, creeks, rocks, tree limbs, mud, loose gravel, dirt, and wild life.
Speaking of which, nice pooch profile pic. I have a Labrador as well.
