Anybody ever put an OEM Navigation unit from a newer 4runner in a 3rd Gen?

There's a few on my local CL, and I know it'll probably be a huge PITA, but would it be worth it to see if it'd work? Mechanically, I can fix damn near anything, but electical stuff is like another language to me. Any insight?

Never tried it, but I bet it would be a hell of a lot easier to install a map in your glovebox! If you get out of range expansion packs are handily available at most gas stations!

Depends on how many signals outside of the unit it needs to function. I would start by looking for a wiring diagram on the TIS site.

This should allow you to see if it is getting a CAN communication line from something like ABS module for vehicle speed or anything that would be an absolute PITA to replicate.
