I've had my 4th gen about about a month now.. its time for audio.. i've got a tacoma with a single 12 on a kicker 750w.. has anybody tried doing two custom boxes like the jl audio stealth box just one on each side? im trying to keep plenty of room for trips and everything so that i wouldnt have to pull out a dual box.. i just don't think a single sub would be enough for a big truck interior when i am use to having a single sitting straight behind me in an xtra cab.. any thoughts?

You'll have a tough time adequately creating bass in a 4Runner with a single driver unless you install a large ported box with a pro-level driver that can handle a lot of power. The StealthBoxes are a neat idea, but far too expensive for my liking. I ran 750 watts to a single 10 wedge style box, and while it sounded good it left more to be desired. Now I have two 10s in a JL ProWedge box and it sounds great. JL Audio CVS210RG-W6v2 Subwoofer systems It tucks against the back seats in my 3rd Gen pretty well and doesn't use up much cargo space. I move it around often when I fold the seats down, but never carry so much stuff that I have to completely remove it.
This will boil down to compromises since cargo space is a factor for you. Get a single subwoofer in a StealthBox if cargo floor space is more important than great sound...and you have money to spend on mediocre bass. Or create better sound with two drivers in a wedge style box against the back seats and accept the inconvenience of moving the thing around when you haul stuff. Good luck.
