Anybody form Illinois?

Just an FYI I am in central IL and currently looking for a 4Runner 3rd Gen for under $5000 [near $4000 is better]. I'm already all over craigslist and stuff, but if you guys know of anyone, or know someone who has theirs on craigslist, let me know. Looking forward to purchasing one in the future.

Also I have a Sportster for trade.

Hey, I'm in Chicago and just got my first 4runner. It's and 86' and needs a little love. Anyone know a good mechanic in/around Chicago? Glad to see there are a few of us on here. Love to get together with some folks sometime. I'm a bit of a newbie.

I'm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, depending on what you want to do with that truck I may be able to point you in the rite direction

Well, its going to be a daily drver for the immediate future but the goal is to get it ready for some long overland trips in Central America. Would love to do some wheeling at some point, but that's a ways down the road. There is some basic stuff I can get done myself, but I need to cut and replace the rear quarter panels, would like to add the OME lift and a couple other things. Basically want a place that is honest and will help me make get my truck ready without trying to sell me on things I don't need.

Hi, I'm in the northwest suburbs too and I need a mechanic I can trust. The right side inboard CV joint boot fell apart on my '04 4Runner. There is also some play in the CV joint but I'm not sure if that's normal because both sides are doing that. Can you recommend a place that knows these vehicles?

Thanks!

Here is who I would recommend:

Bartlett Auto Body in Bloomingdale, IL. They just moved to Bloomingdale, IL about 6 months ago. Jeff and Gary are the owners.

Call Jeff at 224-944-6550 he runs the office, Gary runs the shop.

I have known Jeff a long time, they do great honest work. Will give you really good pricing and wont try to sell you on crap you don't need.

Tell him Randy sent you.

Hey Randy,

Thanks a lot. I'm going to see me tomorrow!

Anytime! Glad to help! Keep me posted on your progress and your experience with them. I told Jeff to make sure you get taken care of.

So far so good! Jeff and Gary gave my truck a good looking over. Needs a few things, but that was to be expected given what I paid for the truck. Most importantly, they seem like a trustworthy shop that actually cares.

Anyone else need a mechanic around the O'Hare area, see Eric @ George's Auto. 2040 S. Elmhurst Rd in Mt. Prospect. The shop is in the auto plaza, 847-975-2190. Just let him know that Steve the tow truck driver sent you. He is extremely good with 4x4s & lifts. He is the only one that works on my truck.

Im am being stationed in Great Lakes at the beginning of December. Coming from San Diego. Im really looking forward to meeting some other T4R owners and hitting the trails out there. From what I can find online there aren't too many places so hopefully you guys have some secret spots lol.
