I was thinking about have a clear bra installed on my T4r Limited. I have gotten quotes ranging from $600 to $900. I was wondering if anyone has had a Clear Bra installed. If so: What brand did you go with? How much did it cost? What type of coverage did ypu get? Also if anyone knows of an a reputable installer in the Chicagoland area let me know. Thanks.

I have 3M clear bras on all 3 of our cars. They are nearly invisible and provide great protection......especially on the crappy modern paint finishes. Mine covers the entires front of the vehile and extends about 8-10 inches up the hood (this section is Toyota brand and was pre installed); 3M hood section extends further. I also got side mirros covered. The installer should give you options on what sections you want. I should be $800-1000 for the full kit like I have. The 3M website wikll list installers in your area.

I have 3M on everything, paint/windows. It is pretty expensive, but awesome. I did everything at once (i.e. 3M Paint Protection Film and Crystalline window film) so I got a pretty good deal, but still over $1k. They cover the entire front end along with the hood scoop, the pillars up the sides of the windshield and a 4in. strip in the roof above the windshield. Not only protects, but makes cleaning easy. Bugs just fall of with a little water, no more scrubbing. I am a 3M fan for life. Not to mention the warranty that the paint film carries. I think it is 5 years. If something damages the paint through the film, the warranty covers body work if required and painting back to OEM standards plus replaced of the film.

OP- I have seen a couple of pictures of 4 R's with them installed and I see the protection value. However, I do not like the look too much. My question is if you have a bra installed-over the years will the color everywhere else look different from the color under the bra?

I had it installed when I bought the truck for $350 which covered the front, hood, and mirrors. I won't get a vehicle again without it since it protects so well.
I've had it on a car before for 2 years and didn't notice any discoloration.

I have Ventureshield (owned by 3M) on both my vehicles. The 3M material is a little better if you park in the street. The Ventureshield is a little better for contact damage. They are both GREAT products! I have the whole front end done including all the lights and about 18" up the hood (bikini cut) and down half the front fenders, mirrors, door handle wells, around the gas tank door, rocker panels, around the wheel wells, running boards and the back bumper. You will spend $800 to $1K. The MOST important part of a clear bra is the installation (installer). The least amount of pieces the better. I have my installer custom install it (the front end is ONE piece). Make sure the installer is experienced and will guarantee satisfaction (by replacing whatever you do not like).

VentureShield on the hood and front quarters, and I love it. I had a great installer who did an excellent job. Make no mistake--this stuff is difficult to work with, but I like the protection. I dropped about $500 for these pieces, plus some custom work on the rockers. It is a simple trade off--Would you -prefer the look of line that comes with the clear bra, or the look of touch ups? Really, it is personal choice. I didn't want to go too anal with my ride. I can live with touching up the plastic areas, but I wanted my paint protected. I am happy.

You clean and wax as normal. You only have to be sure not to use a high-pressure sprayer along the edges, or it may start to peal away. The edges collect wax, so it takes a little extra effort when waxing.
As far as it degrading over time; after 5 years the CB on my car is very slightly discolored compared to the rest of the paint....you'd really have to be looking for it to notice. IMO, a little discoloring is better than 5 years worth of rock-chips! AND, you can always have it replaced if it gets too bad.

After noticing my second small hood chip from highway rocks, I'm seriously considering having this done. The fact that bugs will wash off much easier as mentioned earlier in this thread is a definite plus as well.
I see a few dealers in the Kansas City area, but does anyone on here have personal experience with a clear bra installer in this area?
