Anybody interested in LPG conversion?

I can get NG injection system too but it is a bit more scary. The operating pressures for LPG is like 800 psi while for NG, its is like 5000 psi.

Principle is the same. Gas injected system. My buddy has a Civic on NG and it does drop in power (maybe 10%) but with NG costing $1.25 per gallon, the loss of power is worth the fuel savings.

I'm very interested.

I just joined so I could reply to this thread. We're shipping our rig to Honduras eventually and propane there is like a $1.50 a gallon. :D Will the system you can get work on the V8 4.7L on my 4Runner?

I dont know how often I'll be on here, but I'm on IH8MUD under the same user name. In response to the sluggishness of running on Propane I've never experienced this, but the only experience I have is an old Ford city truck I used for my old company. Thanks!

This is something I've been wanting, but I just found a local co. to do it so I'm out on the mass order. I also asked the guy I spoke with and he said the new systems don't have a power loss because it's all injected now and it has it's own fuel rail. Thanks!

i hate to burst your buble guys, but singtoe is no longer... so this along particular thread along with his tundra/sequoia V8 swap is no longer a real source of info, sorry guys

Did anyone ever figure out what happened with him? All that crap went down when I was out of town, so I tried to figure it all out, but haven't yet...

just my 2cents, but I'm a Brit now living here in the US but my last car in Blighty was a Volvo S40 that I paid about 1500 POUNDS for the conversion. The cost of fuel is more expensive but so was LPG. in fact it used to be about 2 to 1. I estimate that I recouped the cost by the end of year 1 (I drove about 35,000 miles) I didnt have noticable power difference. The miles per gallon were within 10% so 30 on Gas or 27 on LPG. Could still do in excess of 110 miles per hour. The added weight of another 50 litres of fuel probably had as much effect on performance. You could switch between Gas and LPG while moving. You go a long long way between refills. I used to keep Gas and LPG topped off so that if I needed I could ball it without having to stop.

Im going to convert mine too E85. It wont get better gas mileage but it is cheaper so it evens out. The reason I want to do it is so when I do turbocharge I will have all the octane I need. Its safe too boost, run high compression and lots of timing. I have ran them in my Mitsubishi's for over 5 years now.

I was just looking that up today. My last truck had terrible mileage, and I looked into E85...there was a place that sold kits for $500 - $600. E85 is always cheaper than gas here, plus we have a lot of it around being Indiana and all. Right now its at $3.05 and this is the high season. Its gets ridiculously low during harvest in the fall. There is a small mpg loss, but it burns cleaner, and you can still run both reg and E85. I've driven vehicles with both setups, and can't really tell a power difference. I'll post up a link when I find it.
