I have a chance to run these control arms off of ebay for $150 brand new. I've heard they're okay with some small changes. Obviously they're no $600 or $1000 ones but the few people that ive seen have them said theyre good if you change small stuff. With the money saved i think its worth it. Anyone got them? Show pics

Only 1 negative feedback I found on their UCAs. I say go for it, what are the odds this is you?

Negative feedback rating: upper control arm bolt failed causing my wheel to come off while driving

Seriously though, there are some reviews around. The sleeves on the poly bushings are too short and will cause the poly to wear. I'd be cautious about weld quality.

So you'd feel safe doing it yourself?

I run them, and after going through he kinks I love them. Word is they have updated some of the issues...i.e. they went to a similar set up as Icon concerning how they bolt up to the knuckle.

Here is a write up I did...eBay UCA Write-up

There is also a very long thread in the 4th Gen section. Ill look it up and link it.

So far the only failure I have read about on a Toyota has been from a guy getting them installed backwards and breaking the bolt...hardly a quality issue...only a user error.

Another guy I was talking to on FB has the updated style and has decided to ditch the two bolts and run one long grade 8 with a nut to cut out any possible weak links. Him doing it that way added a great deal of support to the machined slug adapter.

What's the advantages of these as I see no camber caster adjustability?

As any aftermarket UCA, it's about articulation. The stock UCA limits the amount of travel due to its restricted range of motion, in turn damaging the ball joint far more often. The uni-ball has a better range of motion.

I believe the geometry of the arm compensates for the change in geometry of the suspension as well, there would be not need for adjustability, it just puts the suspension back into the spec range of stock for alignment sake.

There are several makes of these UCA's, all of which are very pricey, hence the hubbub over these particular arms.

I have ran these for about 8,000 miles and have had no issues.
