one of the 4th gen t4r's known problems is seat squeek noise from the seat. it looks like toyota finally came up with the fix

anybody tried this either by yourself or by dealer?

i have not and i'm skeptical because 1. it took toyota this long(4 yrs!) to come up with this solution which appears to be band-aid only? 2. the front seat actually moves a bit when it makes noise. no amount of grease will cure that, if not, making it worse.

My dealer did this ~ 2 years, 25K miles ago. Worked like a charm. Now the passenger seat has begun to squeak again, and I've downloaded the TSB so I can redo it myself.

Looks like a trivial amount of work but I tend to make things more difficult than they appear!

My driver's seat was squeaking after about 1,000 miles and I took it to the dealer. They order some parts (said it was "R&R Seat Track Pins"). That fixed it, and I have been squek free ever since.

I think there are two separate problems here. The first is a squeak and the second (more common) problem is seat popping and moving. I had the latter, and was fixed (so far so good) by the dealer installing new seat tracks. No amount of grease will fix a seat that makes noise and "pops" due to movement on starts, stops, and turns.

I would say this has been the biggest problem I've had with my 4Runners. Both the 2004 SR5 V6 and the 2005 SE V8 front driver's seat had this identical problem of seat movement.
