Anyone able to help diagnose?

So I finally got the check engine light to go off last month, it ended up being the map sensor.

But now the 4Runner will just completely die on me while driving. Most of the time it just shuts off and I have to restart it a few times and it will go. Other times it is still in idle but won't go at all and I have to shut it off and restart it.

Not only is it extremely frustrating but its dangerous-it did this to me today while I was going 65 down the highway!

I just put about $600 into it over the past few months so I'm asking here first before I take it somewhere. I'm thinking transmission fluid? Fuel pump? Any ideas would be helpful.

No good!

What are the symptoms? Does it make any noises? Does it do it under load or just cruising? Can you elaborate on this 'Other times it is still in idle but won't go at all and I have to shut it off and restart it.'?

Sounds like an electrical gremlin - do you have a good battery? Battery connections tight?

You may have an IAC valve that needs dire attention to be cleaned. It is located under the throttle body. Ever cleaned the throttle body?

The third generation 4runner only has a MAF sensor, no MAP.

No noises really, it just happens out of nowhere really. When it does this while idling, its usally while at a stop sign or light and when I go to press the gas, it just revs up which is when I need to restart it.

And yes, it was the MAF sensor, not map. I'm a chick and don't know the difference :) lol I've never cleaned the throttle body.

I did have the pink milkshake before, could it be a cause from that?

It sounds like it may. What all was done following the pink milkshake?

I would guess fuel pump. Especially if you have to attempt to restart it several times.

But she can rev it and not go anywhere. Sounds like a transmission issue.

The engine runs (as I understand it) - but restarting it she has to shift into park, then back to drive where it connects again.

Yes, it revs up but doesnt go anywhere and I need to shift it into park, shut it off and then start it again.

It did this to me 4 times today within 2 hours from after work.

After the pink milkshake, the tranny was flushed several times and I never had any problems with it after that until recently with this crap. Maybe it needs another flush?

I'd get it to a transmission shop, it definitely sounds like something electrical and not mechanical so I wouldn't think it has anything to do with the pink milkshake but it sounds like when it does this it's slipping the trans which will lead up to bigger transmission issues.
