Anyone Dipped their 5th Gen?!?!

I am flying out to pick up my 2014 TP on Saturday. I've had a few buddies who know now living up there tell me its really good paint on it. And knowing me it will get torn up.

Being an Army Vet I have always dreamed of dipping an off road car camo green. I see a lot of FJ users doing it. Just wondering if anyone's got any picks of their 5th gens Dipped any color and how its held up to light tree scratches.

I dipped mine satin black (50/50 black & glossifier) a little over 3 years ago, has held up surprisingly well for the past 3 years. I'm in the process of taking the dip off to do a full vinyl wrap, I will say so people can learn from my mistakes, lay the dip down heavy, especially by the part of the body above the windows. This area and the hood have given me so much trouble for the past 2 days, luckily my hood was never painted, so I can throw some aircraft stripper on it lol.

Overall it will protect you from trail damage. I was pinned between two rocks, pressed up against a rock and thought I would surely have a rash across my door, literally did nothing to the dip. Also while peeling off the dip, in the places it came off in one big pull, the paint was exactly how I had left it in it's waxed state. I thought for being on there for so long, the paint would've oxidized for sure, but did not.

As for the camo green, don't do it. The camo green that comes in dip is not a good looking color for the 4runner. A dealership did it awhile ago on a 4runner and it looked like poop. Now if you could mix some colors and do like an olive drab, I think that would look good.

Sure but how easy is it to pull off Rhino liner?

Both dip and vinyl come off with relative ease and typically damage free.

Love the flat black OD green would look amazing I just dont know what the color mixture would be? Also I was looking at camo tan but its way too light for me. I was thinking of doing a 2 to 1 2 camo tan and 1 camo brown and seeing how that comes out.... But if it looks like shit its 450-500 down the dumps.

I know above said it has held up well (which I don't doubt at all) but on the trails I definitely have my doubts. I have my stock rims dipped and they got thrashed on the trails. I've had to wet sand my truck twice already due to pinstripping and just don't see how dip would hold up. Maybe when it's much thicker it would but just based off my rims, trail riding would be a no go for the most part.

I live in Missouri and all we have a heavily wooded trails. I did 10 coats, can rub a knife on the body and it won't do anything.

It is pretty durable stuff.

Will it hold up to a dry Juniper branch, maybe. I think it really depends on how good a job your do or have done.
