I was going to take my fogs out . I'll have to examine that to see how it's done .

Does anyone know it the front lense is sealed to the reflector ?? I wanted to take the deflector off inside the light to see what kind of light I get on the road ect..

What deflector?

I'm kind of confused.

Anything you do to it will probably lessen the light output. Toyota fog lights are worthless anyways, if you can't use them by themselves and you don't drive in heavy fog or blinding snowstorms, they are only cosmetic.

A little off topic but there is an easy 5min mod that'll allow the foglights to run with headlights on low-beam (like normal) and with the headlights off. It works great. When time and energy permit I'd like to take one step further; have the relay triggered so they'll run on high beam too. http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/fogmod.html

Mike, be sure to post the outcome if you get rid of the deflectors. I too am interested.

That link for the fog light mod is for a 2007 4Runner. Other years have different color wires. It explains what color of wires to jumper in the first link (top4Runners.com)

These other 2 links show different ways of having "control" of the fog lights. Hopefully it doesnt confuse you too much.

It's the deflector that screws over the bulb. 5 wonder what the light output / beam pattern would be .

I can't answer for pre 06 , but I think my 06 fogs are pretty nice and light up the road ok for a stock light. HELL , you should have seen what my Z71 Tahoe had and our current Tahoe has.
