Anyone drive a 2015 VW GTI?

Never blew a turbo. It wasn't driven too hard unless I was driving. Otherwise, both cars suffered from smelly ass air conditioning which they claimed was normal despite me showing them the smell-free 19 year old original a/c in my faded Evergreen Pearl 1996 4Runner. The 2009 would randomly cut off on the highway. The dealer dumbasses claimed they fixed it five times. The 2013 was an improvement since it would stay running while at highway speeds, but would randomly refuse to start. I lost track of how many times I had to call VW roadside assistance. They also burned oil excessively. You could see blue smoke behind you when mashing the pedal from a stop. The T5 Volvo that we've been hammering for a decade does not burn that much oil. Original turbo too.

A blast to drive, but an enormous shitbox.

My A/C smelled too! haha

Hitting the limiter at 130 was scary too.

Wife says her car doesn't have a limiter at that speed nor is it scary, but it sounds like the OP wouldn't be interested in what she drives.:decision:

We have a 2010 Golf TDLie...its been a great car, nice pep. Of course, it turns out there's a big issue we never new about...

Got an email recently from my local VW dealership...the discounts offered to non-VW owners are better than those offered to VW owners. Why would a dealer send an advertisement to a VW owner showing better deals for non-VW owners?

I'm guessing Hanz & Franz had a big meeting in Wolfsburg, Germany and pretty much decided that they've screwed the existing TDi owners over so badly that they might as well give up on customer retention and spend the money instead to acquire new customers.

Long story short, I have paperwork on it's way and a Golf R to follow. I'm wondering if anyone has any crafty bumper stickers that show my still enduring love for my 4runner? Don't worry, I'm keeping my 97 Limited, but I think it would be hilarious to put a T4R.org sticker on my Golf.

Funny to see VW dealers make things so aggravating given the dire situation VW's in with the diesel debacle.. Such as it is with "halo" models.

BTW - I visited an Audi dealer about a month ago and they were blowing out S3s.. $8K off MSRP... same basic car as a Golf R, just as a sedan. Food for thought if you haven't pulled the trigger...

Yes, any time I brought up the "my confidence in VW isn't exactly rock solid right now" in the "why are you charging $4000 over MSRP for this car?" discussion, it was shot down because "this is the greatest car EVER!"

I had a decent offer on an Audi S3 for a bit under MSRP from a very sympathetic salesperson in Idaho, but it still was about $5k more than the R, and the insurance quote was higher a bit. The R is at my max budget anyway, but trust me, I was very tempted by the Audi offer.
